Welcome to The First

Presbyterian Church of

Carteret!!!!

We are disciples of Jesus Christ seeking by His grace to love God with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love our neighbors as ourselves. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we desire to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

This coming Sunday, April 5th, is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. Please read of Christ's Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. It is found in all four Gospels: Matthew 21:1-9 Mark 11: 1-10 Luke 19: 29-38 John 12: 12-15

Take time to read each one at different times throughout the day. Notice how they are similar and notice how they are different. Remember, Jesus' entry into Jerusalem was the beginning of Jesus' journey to the Cross. What a friend we have in Jesus!

This Palm Sunday, instead of holding palms in your hands, I ask you to put your palms together and pray the words of this hymn:

Healer of our every ill, light of each tomorrow, give us peace beyond our fear, and hope beyond our sorrow.

You who know our fears and sadness, grace us with Your peace and gladness; Spirit of all comfort, fill our hearts.

Healer of our every ill, light of each tomorrow, give us peace beyond our fear, and hope beyond our sorrow.

In the pain and joy beholding how Your grace is still unfolding. give us all Your vision, God of love.

Healer of our every ill, light of each tomorrow, give us peace beyond our fear, and hope beyond our sorrow. Amen.

("Healer of Our Every Ill" music and lyrics by Marty Haugen,1987)

Please look at the website during Holy Week....there will be postings for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Easter will have its own special message.

God bless you! Stay in, stay well, and pray!

 Isaiah 65:13 (NIV)
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
